NextHy Industrial Lab (Innovation Test Facility) (IT22)

Enel Green Power SpA (EGP) is the Enel Group company dedicated to the development and management of energy generation from renewable sources. Its mission is to contribute to the energy transition by promoting the decarbonization of the energy sector. With this aim, hydrogen has been the subject of business and innovation activities by the Enel Group's.

The facility will be the first laboratory capable of allowing prototypes to be tested under real operating conditions, thanks to the following features:

• direct integration with a wind farm, which will allow the definition and validation of optimal integration schemes with renewable energy;
• integration with an industrial electrolyzer, used as a technological benchmark;
• validation of a real-life use case, as all hydrogen produced under the project will be used by Sapio Produzione Idrogeno Ossigeno S.r.l. to supply local industries.

The project is located in the municipality of Sortino, in the province of Syracuse, where the test platform will be built, which will consist of a multi-technology area where innovative technologies dedicated to hydrogen production and storage will be tested and validated. The project will officially start in 2023.
