Alstom Ferroviaria is the Italian branch of Alstom group, the Project is led by Savigliano Site in northwest of Italy and will involve several Alstom Sites in Italy (Sesto San Giovanni, Bologna, Vado) and all over EU (CZ, FR, D, PL). In particular the development will be in close coordination with Alstom France that participate to IPCEI Hy2Tech with the Project FR09 in TF2.

ALSTOM Ferroviaria Project objectives is to develop a new platform of regional passenger trains for “Catenary Free” lines to replace Diesel train with a “zero emission” solutions capable to meet the highest standards in terms of autonomy, capacity and comfort. This development consists of 3 steps, a proof-of-concept phase to demonstrate the feasibility and performance of the new architecture using state of the art components; a second phase to extend the range of application to partially electrified lines with a Bimodal train capable to manage also the energy from catenary when available and the last phase to deploy at maximum the performances thanks to newly developed components from different Partners in IPCEI Hy2tech.

The Project started in September 2021 and will be completed in 2027; the activities are led by Alstom Ferroviaria Savigliano Site that develops and integrates the train, for this reason Savigliano site will also be equipped with new testing building to properly manage the safety aspects of the H2 and a refuelling station with Green H2 produced locally with solar panel.
