Advent

Advent Green HiPo is an EU IPCEI Hy2Tech ratified clean technology project that is owned by Advent.

The key objectives of Advent Green HiPo are focused on the state-of-the-art development, design and manufacture of fuel cell and electrolyser systems for the production of power and hydrogen respectively.  Advent specializes in the development, manufacture and assembly of complete fuel cell systems, including the supply of the critical components for fuel cells.  Advent holds the intellectual property for next-generation High-Temperature Proton Exchange Membrane (“HT-PEM”) technology, enabling its fuel cells to operate with various hydrogen carrier fuels as well as hydrogen gas.  Advent’s HT-PEM fuel cells are currently targeted for use in the transportation, stationary and portable sectors.

Advent Green HiPo will be located in the Western Macedonia region of Greece, embracing a significant role in transitioning the region from a coal-based economy to a more sustainable economic model.  The plan includes the establishment of a state-of-the-art facility in the region, serving as the hub for production and research activities for innovative fuel cells and electrolyser systems.

Advent Green HiPo sets ambitious targets, aiming to achieve a total cumulative capacity of up to 1.5GW for electrolysers and up to 120MW for innovative HT-PEM fuel cells.  The project is expected to create up to 650 job opportunities for qualified scientific and technical personnel.  By demonstrating the commitment of Greece and the EU to rapidly decarbonize power production and achieve energy security and independence, Advent Green HiPo highlights the pivotal role for hydrogen technologies in this transition.
