1s1 Energy Portugal Unipessoal - 1S1 nextPEM (PT14)

The 1S1 nextPEM project is executed by 1s1 Energy Portugal Unipessoal Lda, a private Portuguese materials science company established in 2020 to work on breakthrough technology in the fields of PEM water electrolysis and fuel cells. 1s1 Energy Portugal Unipessoal Lda is a fully owned subsidiary of 1s1 Energy, Inc.

 The primary objective of the 1S1 nextPEM project is to develop and manufacture massively scalable water electrolysis modules for the low-cost production of green hydrogen. The project’s Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) is focused on targeted innovation and component development, introducing novel materials and engineering to the electrochemical cell. The materials science RDI will also be leveraged for hydrogen fuel cell components. The project’s First Industrial Deployment phase (FID) will develop and validate production processes, resulting in a manufacturing capacity of 300 MW of next-generation water electrolysis systems per year.

 The 1S1 nextPEM project will be executed in Portugal. 1s1 Energy understands that the member state is preparing to put the approved aid into effect and is waiting to start official contracting. The project is expected to begin by the end of 2023.
